Does anything go better together than football and dip? Okay, maybe football and porn, but we’re a family operation. Here’s a delicious dip recipe to try that packs more protein than your average onion dip. And less fat too. A cup of sour cream can have as much as 45 grams of fats; a cup of white beans – just a gram. And when it comes to fiber, beans outscore sour cream every day of the week. It takes only minutes to whip up and it’s dairy-free too, just in case a carload of vegans show up.
Lemony White Bean Dip
1 can white navy beans, rinsed and drained (canned beans have alotsa salt so rinse well)
1/4 cup olive oil
Juice of one lemon
Some lemon zest
1/2 teaspoon dried basil (we love fresh basil, but who always has it in the house)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (we love fresh garlic too, but sometimes we’re lazy)
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Pinch of salt
Combine ingredients in a food processor and blend. Serve with cut carrots and celery, pita bread or whatever you please.
Start dipping!
